I got older?! T_T

So I didn't find a way to revolutionize academic article writing (yet), but I did grow a year older since the last time I posted.

I'd like to say thank you again to all of the people who wished me happy birthday on facebook ^_^ ..though 95.769% of them most probably have no idea this blog exists, so.. er... awkward.

As awkward as that line of appreciation was, what I find more awkward is how I feel that I owe more thanks to facebook than to all those people who actually wished me on facebook.. because lets be honest, if it were not for the little line on the right reminding you it was my birthday...

..I'll not complete that line of thought on record because I'm going to sound so cynical and unappreciative T_T; and I don't mean that.. I'm sorry ;_;

But seriously~ how amazing is facebook? *_* It has turned the cellphone/handphone/telephone obsolete. (This time I want to sound cynical. Ha ha.)

I was freaking surprised when my brother told me his main method of contacting his friends was on facebook. Even though both parties had handphones! And they don't even use those iPhones with super duper internet access. They have to get on their laptops just to check if they got any messages, and these are very important messages that could be (ironically) exchanged much faster through an SMS.

Is it 'a SMS' or 'an SMS', I dunno. Consonant 's', so 'a sms', but it sounds weird when in my head I go 'a ass em ass' :S Yeah, I'm planning to be an English lecturer :D

Sorry, I have this love-hate relationship with social networking websites.. we're seeking professional help on this.

Speaking of social networking websites, has anyone heard of formspring? It looks freaking amazing and can create tons of fun. From what I've seen after poking around, its basically a place where you can make an account and have people throw (anonymous?) questions at you to answer, which pops up on your page. Sounds cool, like a personal FAQ or something :D Thoughts?

Nothing much happened on my brithday, I wasn't supposed to celebrate it anyway, because I'm mourning now :\ I did realize Itallianese's cakes are freaking huge though o_o;

Another blog-like blogpost (heheh) Just trying to get back to speed on posting regularly again :3 Still got tons of work, and sorry khairul, I can't seem to get into the habit of putting pictures in my posts (yet) :P

I'm free~ but I still cost quite a lot~

Yes~! Final exam is over! The final final final exam of my life! (hopefully)

I'm feeling happy because I think I'll be able to pass both subjects this semester *grins* :B

Heh, later if I fail both subjects look forward to a melodramatic blogpost ok. I think results should be out before next year...

....*touch wood touch wood*

...*smashes wood until hand bleeds* T__T choi choi choi

Speaking of mutilated hands, my right hand is in so much pain right now. I swear, the day I become a lecturer I'm going to revolutionize examinations by allowing all my students to type their answers~ Lets conduct the exam in the computer room ^o^ *plugs off internet*

There is so much that I disagree with with the education system, not only in Malaysia, but around the world! And I hate hate hate all these elitist articles that are written in languages too difficult to understand!

My friend even told me that it is a required skill to write in a confusing manner when writing academically (to publish in ISI journals la, ish ish). What the hell for?! Argh just thinking about it makes me so angry T_T Elitist bastards.

Its because of shit like this, I dream of becoming a lecturer la, of becoming a researcher la, but seriously, who's going to publish a paper that is written like.. er.. how this blog is written? Doesn't sound 'smart' at all, right?

"Aiseh, no respect la, people read your paper, so chapelang the language >;O" they'll tell me.

Eh, wait. Very OOC x_x

"I say, nobody would give you an ounce of respect, being forced to read your unrefined discourse. There is no credibility in sounding like a rickshaw puller."

Wa damn stuck up right, don't even put emoticon. Cis T_T9

If you'll excuse me, I'll have to go read up/talk to more people that have experience publishing and see how far this elitist bullshit can be challenged, or if anyone ever bothered challenging it.

I refuse to abide to this capitalist mode of education >o< The smart stay smart (and stuck up) while the stupid get stupider... flushed down the brai~n drai~n =o=

The Art of Foreshadowing

Allright kids, today I'm going to teach you about the art that is Foreshadowing.

First, you take four light sources and shine them on one object or person. POW. Four shadows appear.

Congratulations! You've just foreshadowed! Yes yes, I'm well aware that it's foreshadow, not fourshadow. Don't worry, I don't think you're (that) stupid ^_^ Listen, you can't judge a book by it's cover, okay ;O Just because it's 'fore' doesn't mean that it cannot mean 'four'.

It's foreshadow because of the word's Latin origin. You see, it was believed that if you saw all sides of a person's shadow at the same moment, you would be able to tell their past, present, future, and forever. The main use of this was to discover the all-mysterious fortunes that would befall people in their future, mostly to warn someone about bad luck. Thus that practice was called foreshadowing. Sadly, the last surviving foreshadower died many years ago. She did not foresee her sad, unmarried life :(

Like button!

So in the effort to allow readers to give (more) feedback, I put a Like button for all my posts ^o^

Because I know some of you are just too lazy to type, or don't know how to type, or can't afford to buy keyboards, or use an iPad, or you're on strike, refusing to use your keyboard because laptop keyboards suck ass (high five ^o^/), or unfortunately have no hands/fingers and navigate online through a infrared optic mouse installed in your eye... which is really cool, by the way *_*

Hehe :P I'd like to thank the five people that are willing to traffic my blog and read the stuff that I've been putting up *_* Thanks for repeatedly spamming my page! lol XD Now feel free to go back to all my previous posts that you liked and click that like button ^O^! please

Why Wikipedia should be our source of knowledge (Unproofreaded)

Sorry I've been AFK for sometime, you might have guessed that I have been busy due to assignments. You are wrong. While I do have loads of work to do, I have been busy furthering my skills in the art of procrastinarianism

Yes, I have been diligently procrastinarinating the past few days and all I have to say is, I never thought youtube could be this interesting ^o^. In other news, this is a load of philosophy that I spewed a few days ago, just copy-pasting to keep my blog.. healthy :D

A week ago, I posted on facebook wondering if wikipedia were more reliable, it could actually replace textbooks for school children, making everyone's lives easier.

The most interesting thing I gathered from this, however, is the common notion that wikipedia is unreliable, it's rubbish. Why?

Because entries in wikipedia can be edited by anyone, and it has plenty of cases of false information. Some entries in wikipedia aren't even cited properly or academically, which casts even more doubts on the content.

Very logical and reasonable arguments, I'm sure. But I'm starting to disagree.

Perhaps I'm not lazy after all...

I'm very proud of myself today.

Why, you may ask?

Okay, you didn't ask. But I'm gonna tell you why anyway! >o<

I'm proud of myself because I finally managed to finish one of my assignments!

*cricket sounds*

After procrastinating for 2 weeks! *o*

*cricket* *crickets sound annoying*

How? You might ask, how did I manage to unprocrastinate myself and finish a whole assignment in one day?! An amazing feat, if I may say so myself ^_^

Simple, I cut my nails!

...what?

I cut my nails! ^o^ Which led me to cutting my toenails! Which led me to putting my clothes to wash! Which led me to clean the room floor!

*glass breaks* What was that? Oh my god, the cats broke a cup @_@ *proceeds to clean up the broken pieces*

^o^ Hang clothes! *washes hands and goes to pee* ah, so productive day today ^_^ What am I going to do next.

*turns and stares at the computer*

....hmm...

--- Two hours and five episodes of assorted anime later ---

*stretch* *yawns* I think I'll do my assignment...

--- Twenty five minutes and six music videos later ---

Right. Assignment, assignment.

--- Four minutes and two kitkat bars later ---

Gotta pee. Gotta pee. When you gotta go, you gotta go~

...ok, assignment T_T

--- Three excruciating hours and one assignment later ---

OMG I finished my work *O*! *rejoices* Lets start transcribing next :3

*transcribe trascribe transcribe* .... *stomach growls* Oh, hungry .o.

So I came downstairs to get some food! I even contemplated not to eat and continue finishing work.. but.. I'd kill myself if I got a headache again +_+ so,

*walking towards convenience store* Oh :O *stops and looks at the cyber cafe* Well okay ^w^ *shrugs*

...and here I am ^O^/

tl;dr : I realised that I have this 'switch' or 'gear' that once is turned on, I'll go all out doing whatever 'mode' it's at, when its 'work', I work non-stop, when it's 'procrastinate', you get lots of blogposts *o* when it's 'eat', I get fat... hmm... *stomach grumbles* oh yeah, I'm hungry.. .o. BYE! ^o^/

How to learn more about yourself :D

Achtung; Like all things in social science, heck, in all human related studies, this is in no way a perfect generalization that can be applied to anybody. Take this with a pinch of salt, or whatever spice of your choice :D tl;dr: Jangan perasan >o<

Think about how you have conversations with your friends, your parents, even your teachers or colleagues at work. There is always an exchange of information going on, and through this process of exchanging information, you can actually learn a lot about the person(s) that you're communicating with, and vice versa ^o^

You can also learn a lot about yourself.

Why am I so lazy? ;__;

I've become quite an impulsive person recently.

Well, not that I wasn't impulsive to begin with, but at least in the past, I had a lot more sense of responsibility compared to now (and even then, I had very little compared to the average student scoring what I usually scored. Not that I scored very highly back then, but really, I was what people would call dangerously carefre- wait, is my aside longer than my paragraph? Like, seriously? What the).

Maybe impulsive isn't really the correct word to use, I think I'm more likely to be labeled as someone 'horribly indulgent towards himself' =o= If I don't feel like doing assignments, I don't give a damn about the deadline, who cares! I'll just procrastinate through the deadline.. It wont result in me dead.. ..right?

If I feel like doing something really crazy like staying overnight somewhere just because I have no transport to go home and I'm too lazy to rush home, I'd do it. And my reasoning would be solely because hey, it'd be an experience, wouldn't it? :D

One of the epic book titles I'm saving sounds something like "Experience the Experience of Experiencing Experiences", which sounds really cool and makes a lot of sense ^o^

If I'm craving for some kinda food, say McDonalds, but I don't have the luxury to spend so much money for it, I still go ahead and spend it and eat my fill. My logic (at the time) would be that I have this theory that your gut feeling is actually a very reliable indicator of what you need (to stay healthy and happy). Belief in this theory lasts approximately 8 hours until the next time I'm hungry and realize I need to stinge for my next meal, which doesn't make me feel very healthy and happy D:

So yeah, all this indulgence on myself has really spoilt me into this demanding brat that doesn't like to do things that feels troublesome or uninteresting... which makes me seriously concerned about my near future, where I'm daydreaming of getting a higher paying job :( Not to mention the more pressing issue of actually passing this semester... XD;

Wow, who would've thought I'd have all this concerns that only parents have for their children.. and for myself, even. Guess this is what happens when someone lives on their own and is totally responsible for their own wellbeing... it feels rather.. complicating :S I think I'm going to lie down for awhile *brb* +_+

Ironicity

I would like to thank Yukina for providing the inspiration for this blogpost, I could've done it without you, but you were in the right place in the right time ;D *winks*

...*shivers* >_> anyways,

In this age of internet and facebook, people are connecting on countless levels that were unthinkable a mere hundred years ago~ Oh how far have we come *_*

That, however, is completely unrelated to what I wanna talk about today~

Today, I want to talk about trends. People have this aversion towards being like other people, everyone wants to be unique. If you stand out in a crowd, you're special, and will more likely to be noticed, which is a good thing, unless you're in Japan, where you'll get hammered like a nail..

This desire of being unique and original has been around forever, back when the first caveman thought it would be better if he used the skin of the mammoth he had for dinner to cover up his be-hind (and in-front) rather than get itches from the leaves like all other cavemen. Needless to say, the ladies were all over him. We're his decedents. Sup bro?

Even till this day, you see many aspiring cavemen and cavegirls trying to look as unique as possible, trying to do things that nobody has done before, shunning what's normal, or cliche, or mainstream, or corny. Did you know that there exist people that start to dislike something they like just because too many people started liking it too?! I know right?? Preposterous!

What I've realized, however, is that there are so many people (on the vast culmiverse[1] of the internet) that try their best to be original, to be unique, that the notion of being 'original' and 'unique has actually become the norm!

There are more 'unique' and 'original' people now than people who fit into 'stereotypes' or are 'corny' @_@! Isn't that ironic, don't you think? It's like raiinn~~~ On your wed--

..*cough* sorry. So yeah, don't worry if you think you're stereotypical or are just plain normal or corny. You're actually the trendy ones! ^o^b

[1] Culmniverse - a term meaning "Cumulative universe", a group of universes grouped together to form a great Culmniverse. Ex. "The internet is a culmniverse consisting of facebook, twitter, blogspot, youtube, wikipedia, google, and 4chan". See also, multiverse.

It has begun... but I have not

Nanowrimo has begun *O*

I still have no idea what I want to write :3 Today's post will be to help me warm up *_* So I'm gonna rant a crapload of stuff :9

First of all, I feel like destroying the chatbox on my blog =w= It's making the reply function to my posts obselete.. *shrugs* I dunno, there's something unsettling about having a chatbox at the side of my blog... *stares at it* >_> Its making puppy dog eyes at me.. d'aww~

Second of all, I can't help noticing how much people dislike gay and lesbian stuffs. They don't hate it, they aren't against the idea, but they're uncomfortable talking about it or even associating anything with it.

From my observation, most of the world is still prejudiced about same sex relationships, even though the general consensus is to support them and let them have their freedom/rights. Its just that nobody's showing it up front, but it shows in the things they say/choose not to say.. to me at least :O

Same goes for feminist movements, all those talks about equal rights between men and women.. From what I see, that will be impossible as long as people keep thinking the way they do now. I have always advocated equal treatment between all sexes and all races, but my ways have been rather.. extreme.

You see, I'd like to think that the way I think is very unconventional (yes, I'm very perasan, thank you >;O) and I go against a lot of cultural norms. I'm even considered very rude by a lot of people. This is my problem with the world; there are too many cultural norms in effect that are pre-programming a lot of people act in a way that goes against their beliefs of 'equal rights'.

What most people don't know is that these cultural norms, or traditions, or rules, are created by humans, and so, in my opinion, should not be hard-fast rules that should be obeyed or you will die. They were created for a reason, yes, but the periods where most of our traditions and beliefs were created are, sorry to say, outdated, and if you're someone who thinks that change should happen, and if you especially want to fight for 'equality', then these outdated rules should be discarded immediately.

Sorry, I don't mean to offend anyone or sound like I have a better understanding than anyone regarding anything, in fact, I think I'm pretty shallow ^o^ Most of what I say is straight from my mind, built from my experiences and what little I know about this world. Heck, I don't even bother to research on topics before I voice my opinions on my blog! XD

...I just get really dissapointed at the thought of people that are so called fighting for a cause but are actually doing nothing to help the cause, whats worse, some of them don't even know it, they're just hopping on the bandwagon.

I also really pity the people that are forced to conform to the norm of what is the 'right' thing to do out of fear of being labeled a racist or a sexist, even though they know, deep down, that they are racist. Don't worry, as long as you identify yourself with a race, you are a racist, no matter how much you deny it ;D and I'm not going to judge you, because I'm racist too ^o^b

Allright~ time to go play starcraft 2~! 8D

The Epic Train

So if you're not from Malaysia (or not living in Malaysia or haven't been to Malaysia), too bad, you'll not be able to relate to some parts of this post. But on the other hand.. it's so awesome for you to be reading my blog!! Hi there!! What country are you from? *O*

...*ahem* Right. Epic Train. Totally got derailed back there (hahaha..ha...ha. -_-)

So there's this light rail transit service which I take to work sometimes, called LRT for short, and they have recently upgraded some of their train models to be twice as long (and twice as cold T_T). It's a really good improvement ^o^

However, with great power, comes great responsibility *foreboding music*

During the past two weeks, I have encountered very.. peculiar people on the Epic Trains.

The first encounter started when a man asked this girl whether her bag needed the seat it was occupying. So she lifted it and put it down so he could sit. Very sarcastic, right? Thats not the end of it.

The man then went on to spew a crapload of a rant (in a rather loud voice) about how Malaysian youths are not sensible and respect for the elders and common sense was dying out etc etc to the man next to me. We were sitting in a row, girl, man, old man, me XD;

So okay, very sarcastic man, cool, got balls to speak out his opinions, great :D Even more respect for the girl for enduring the whole thing, at least until she snapped. Ho yeah, she snapped, after a few stations, she got up, I thought she was getting down, but no.

She started asking the man if he's from Malaysia, and how he sounded as if he's a foreigner talking down Malaysian youths, and.. well, all hell broke loose and both of them were almost screaming at each other! @o@ Even "fuck you" came out before it ended!

To her credit, it was the girl who said it, which was met by a witty comeback from the old man; "how you gonna fuck me? You use your pussy to fuck me is it?" LOL XD he was stepping out of the train when she said it, and stepped back in, shot the comment, and stepped back out! I was so amazed by what happened... everyone was watching... nobody got it on video though, that would make a great youtube video I'm sure *_*

*starts to wonder if these people would stumble upon this and sue me for defamation.. but hey, not enough info for this to qualify XD*

The second encounter, on the other hand, wasn't so epic. But was equally ..interesting XD This time, I had my headphones on and didn't bother taking them out to listen because the guy seemed kinda dangerous. I didn't even dare to make eye contact >_<

I was just sitting there.. when this guy stumbled to the middle pole before the door, leaned on it, looking kinda like those drunk guys (but it was in the morning), but I suspect he was sober.. Anyways, he started talking as if he was really dissatisfied with something.

At first I thought "oh, poor guy, he's got some screws loose.. at least he knew how to take the train.." But then I realised his dissatisfaction seems directed at something/someone on the other side of the train, and he was even gesturing and saying lots of negative stuffs at that person/thing.. so.. something definitely pissed him off and made him get up from his seat and walk away.

This went on for a couple of stations until he stormed off. I tried looking at the general direction where he was gesturing, but I didn't see anything out of the ordinary so... maybe the person was ignoring everything that happend. Too bad I was too intimidated to actually see what was going on ^^;

So yeah, after that happened, the new, longer, colder LRT will henceforth be named "The Epic Train". It has been scientifically proven (through observation) that it increases the stress levels and makes occupants more likely to exhibit their dissatisfaction at things. Experts are coming up with theories to explain these occurrences as we speak. You've read it here first ^o^v
